Nairobi, Kenya | September 24 to 28, 1996

In 1996 the National Museums of Kenya hosted the CIDOC annual conference in Nairobi. The conference was attended by some 120 delegates from around the world. The opening speaker was Mr Manyando Mukela, Vice-President of ICOM. The conference consisted of presentations, working group meetings and an open forum. Two major topics were the impact of Internet and the documentation of “non-material culture”. Following the conference, excursions were organised to the Olorgesailie archaeological site and Lake Magadi.
