Exhibition Performance WG news Network, News

The Exhibition and Performance Documentation Working Group is looking for members interested in exploring the intersections between exhibition and performance practices and museum documentation.

The aim is to connect professionals and researchers working in this area to share resources, develop strategies, and strengthen our network. Your involvement can take different forms. If you are working on this topic, please reach out so the Working Group can include you in the network!

Working group milestones

Bibliography & project mapping

  • Create and publish a shared Zotero bibliography on documentation of exhibitions and performances.
  • Compile a list of relevant projects in museums and universities to map our network.
  • Develop conceptual definitions of exhibition (in-person/digital) and performance to delimit the WG’s study object.

Definitions, questionnaire and data models

  • Design an institutional diagnostic questionnaire to better understand current practices and expand our network map.
  • Present and analyse the results of the questionnaire.
  • Conduct a metadata crosswalk: comparative analysis of existing standards (Spectrum, CDWA, CCO, CONA, LIDO, CIDOC-CRM, CIDOC Guidelines, etc.) and institutional models.
  • Identify specific data models adapted to documenting exhibitions and performances.

Documentation strategies and event planning

  • Share documentation strategies on how to document exhibitions and performances for preservation and future access.
  • Organise a WG event to present findings and set new objectives.

Two information sessions will be held online on December 11th at 9:00 AM and another one the same day at 4:00 PM Montreal time (UTC-5). If you are interested in contributing, please contact us at: zoe.renaudie[@]gmail.com
